Change tax form from 1040 to 1040a

TurboTax chooses the best form for you based on the answers you give. If you are not claiming a dependent TurboTax automatically uses Form 1040EZ.

If you were to claim a dependent TurboTax would automatically use Form 1040A or 1040.

You can try to clear & start over to see if this changes anything in your favor. However, if you were to clear & start over all of the information you've entered would be lost.

In TurboTax Online, you can erase your return and start from scratch as long as you haven't submitted payment, deducted the TurboTax fee from your refund, or registered.

·        If you haven't already done so, sign in at TurboTax.com and select the blue Take me to my return button.

·             On the welcome back screen, in the left-side menu, select Tax Tools, and then select Clear & Start Over (click or tap the 3 lines in the upper-left corner if you don't see this menu).

Answer yes when the window pops-up to confirm.
