My partner bought TT Premier and installed/activated it on her computer. I installed/activated it on mine using the same license code (based on the '5 installs' license feature). I'm ready to file my taxes online, but she's not ready, and since she paid for the product, I want her to have the benefit of the free online filing option, and also the free state option.
Bottom line, I want to buy my own copy at this point, and use the new license code to activate (re-activate) my installed version, and then use that installation to file online and also do my state taxes. But since the product is already installed / activated, how would I enter the new license code? I don't see anywhere obvious to do this in the installed program.
I guess I could uninstall / reinstall? Will that re-trigger the request for license code, so I can then enter the new code? I do have another computer also; I guess I could install on that computer, and use the new code, then transfer the underlying tax file to that computer. I was hoping 'help/about' might let me enter/update the installed version.

There are other reasons why I wanted my own licensed copy, and I was wanting to know how to apply said license. I went ahead and purchased the new license and I found that there is a 'help / switch product / Activate New Product' option, and there I was able to enter the new license. After doing this, I can see both new and old licenses in that 'switch product' dialog.
You can file before her. That won't affect her. The Desktop program has 5 free federal efiles. The free state is only for the state PROGRAM download. Then each state return is $25 to efile including the first one. Except New York is free to efile. You don't need to buy another program.

I uninstalled and re-installed Turbo Tax Business a couple of times, but the system needs to give me the option to input a new license key; it is easy to do on home and business, but I do not have such an option for business. Can someone help? I used up my five first corporate filings with the first software, 2nd one I purchased. I do not know how to change
Where did you look? Under Help - Switch Product - Activate new product. Even if you can find where to enter a new license code I don't know what that will do or what benefit you will get. Don't think it will allow you to efile more than 5. 5 efiles is a IRS limit.
