They easily just hung up or disconnect the phone call and close the case.

I have toruble to purchase state turbo tax every year and I spoke with 3 agents so far TODAY only and they have a terrible customer service phone call attitude.
One has a lot of noise background so I can hear her family 's conversation
Other one is just asking a few question and hung up
One is keep asking same question over and over about 40 min and phone just got disconnected !!!
That is a terrible experience. What error message happens when you try to purchase state? Are you using desktop or online? Most of the time this happens with desktop and requires a customer service person to "push" the state to your account. If it is desktop call again and ask the representative to take your payment over the phone and push the state to your account. Then you will login and download the file that they send to you.
Make sure you have an Intuit logon and that it is working before you try to purchase the state again. If this is online instead let me know exactly what happens.
