After a computer problem, I had to reinstalled TurboTax Premium 2022. I want to look at last years tax returns. I have filed both the federal and state 2022 tax returns. When I try to open the 2022 return files, TurboTax knows I have filed the federal return and goes directly to asking me to buy the state return. I have found not way to open the 2022 federal or state returns that I e-filed via with TurboTax last year. I've tried to open both the hard disk file and the cd file with the same problem.

After you get the program installed or reinstalled the first thing to do before you open your tax return is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to FILE - NEW). Enter some basic information, then go to the state tab and download the state program. Then try to open your existing return, go to FILE - OPEN

You are absolutely right. I had the same problem. But, I opened last year's files prior to uploading the new turbo tax and started this year's return. So I know it's there. I think turbotax uploaded that last year's return info and doesn't let you see or open it while it's being used. When you file this year's return you will be able to see it again. At least that is what I think is happening.
Will the program down load the state program without buying? I used the one state return filing with the original purchase and shouldn't have to buy it again.
I neglected to comment on the Error: 190 Code. It has to due with not having an a state return software, according to an internet search. It was lost with my computer problems. I will try the procedure listed above.
Hello, if you saved the 2022 returns as a pdf, you should be able open with Acrobat Reader.
Yes, that's true and I have them, but I wanted everything working so that any needed data from 2022 would be available for my 2023 return. Thanks for the help.
Yes, Thanks. That worked.
