This rejection occurs when the date of birth for the second person listed on the return (the spouse) is either incorrect or doesn't match IRS records.
To correct your spouse's Personal Information, take the following steps:
- In your open Federal return, choose the left tab topic My Info
- On the page Personal info summary, scroll down to your spouse's name
- Click the blue Edit link to the right of your spouse's name
- Enter the correct birth date for your spouse, if it is incorrect.
If you have the correct birth date, then you will need to contact the Social Security Administration (SSA) to get your spouse's birth date corrected in their records. The IRS uses the SSA database to match records for tax returns.
