Can't save return

I've used TurboTax Home and Business for several years. I started working on my return yesterday, and for some reason, I am unable to save my return as I normally do during the course of working on the return, or when I close TurboTax to take a break.

I'm using the downloaded version of TurboTax Home and Business. When I attempt to save my return, here is the error message that opens up in a dialog box:

path\filename.tax2021

File not found

check the file name and try again

I don't think I've ever received an error message in Windows software saying "file not found" when I was attempting to save a file for the first time. Can anyone please help me with this?

I suggest you try to save it to your Desktop with the Save As function.

This will ensure you have a saved file.
Log out of TurboTax
Sign out and sign back into your computer
Make sure you are saving to your local hard drive and not directly to an external flash drive or a restricted network folder.
Sign back into TurboTax
Try to save again
