Can't Find Economic Impact Payment

I get to the point in TTax where is says I should have gotten in 2020 Payment #1 of $2400 and Payment #2 of $1200 and I did not remember any payment. TTax says to verify payment on IRS site.  I had a rough time getting registered and as an alternative I downloaded my 2020 bank transactions and looked for 2400 and 1200 but no deposits were made in those amounts. I finally got activated on the IRS site today and found that the IRS says I received $xxxx.xx as Payment #1 and $0.00 for the 2nd payment.  I looked for the Payment #1 amount on my bank records and it is not there.

There are instructions on the IRS page that MFJ filers need to check both my account and my spouse's account to enter the amounts. I hate to go through the hassle of creating an IRS account for my wife.

Has anyone else had this trouble?   TTax says I got 2400 and 1200 but I cannot verify that and I cannot verify the $xxxx.xx deposit to my bank.  So what transaction text would have been with my direct deposit?  BTW, I have gotten direct deposit for many years and would have remembered a paper check.

So, should I enter $xxxx.xx for the amount I got per the IRS records or put in $0.00 ?  Will the IRS check my account and trigger an audit?

TIA

First, for a stimulus amount that is not found, see:

Questions and Answers about the First Economic Impact Payment — Topic F: Payment Issued but Lost, Stolen, Destroyed or Not Received | Internal Revenue Service

Second, yes, the only other way to check your economic impact payments would be to create an account online with the IRS, see: View Your Tax Account.

Third, TurboTax would have calculated your eligibility, but only you know what was deposited. To enter your details in TurboTax, follow these steps:

    1. Go to the search box and enter stimulus. Click the Jump to link.
    2. Answer Yes.
    3. At the next screen, Let's double-check the amount you received, answer No to edit the first-round and second-round amounts.
    4. If no stimulus amount was received, enter 0. An amount must be entered in each box. When finished, click Continue.

Enter in what you see as in your bank account. The IRS will not trigger an audit but will calculate any corrections. If they show record it was received, but it was not, then see the answer above to start a payment trace.

OK, I think I found it.  I sorted my bank records I downloaded by the amount and there is an entry of deposit on 4-15-20 that came from IRS TREAS 310 DES: TAX REF ID:xxxxx and my name and some ID number ending in PPD. What is odd is it came 5 days before my Tax Refund which coincided with the amount on my 2019 TTAX  records.  The tax refund deposit showed almost the same text as the stimulus except for the last 5 numbers.

I'm guessing the amount shown on the IRS website for me plus the amount on my wife's account (I did not sign her up yet) would total the deposit I got on 4-15-20. I'll go back into TTAX2020 and put the amount in from my deposit records and cross my fingers.  🙂
