I have e-filed the last 6-7 years with no problem. This year I have a 1099-R and a SSA-1099 that I never had before. I suspect it's because of the 1099-R. A message came up that said make sure i attach a copy of the 1099-R. Is there a way to attach it electronically? I also when filling out that part of the return it said to download the information from the institution I used. I clicked on that and it said my tax forms aren't available yet although I printed out my 1099-R from their site last Saturday.

There is no way to attach a form 1099-R to your return electronically. Normally it doesn't need to be attached unless you are mailing in your tax return so make sure you didn't indicate that you are mailing in your return. It is possible that your broker has not made your form available for download even though it is available to be printed out.
Even if the 1099R is available to view online or even to print, it is often late January to mid-February before those documents have been formatted for importing into tax software. So if you are in a hurry to enter them you can key it in by hand.....or just wait to see if you can import it in the next several weeks.
Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.
To enter your retirement income, Go to Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA 401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals to enter your 1099R.
Definitely didnt say i was mailing it. I think you may be correct that the form isn’t available yet. I am waiting until the 31st. Thanks again
I did enter the info by hand. Thats when turbo tax said i couldn’t efile.
It might be that some forms are not ready for efiling yet. Here is an article you can reference that will tell you particular forms availability.
