Generally, the 1099-MISC is received by for providing a service as a contractor or someone how has a self-employed business.

But, the 1099-MISC can still be entered without being self-employed.

Sign into TurboTax and Take me to my return

  •  Click on Federal in the left column.
  •  Go to Wages & Income and scroll down to Other Common Income.
  •  Click on Form 1099-MISC and enter information as on the 1099- MISC form.
  •  You may need to click on My form has other info in boxes 1-18 to show entire form.
