E-filing is closed for past year returns.  Only a 2024 return can be e-filed.  Any past year returns can only be filed by mail.   Print, sign and date the return in ink, and mail it.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

What if I don’t have my w2s anymore? Also, TurboTax online is giving me the option to purchase a previous year to file them online?

No----you can purchase the 2022 desktop software from the online site----but it has to be downloaded to a full PC or Mac.  It is not online software.   It works from your own hard drive after you install it.   And the return has to be mailed.

And if you lost your W-2's you will have to make some efforts to round them up.  TurboTax does not have them and cannot get them for you.

W-2's come from employers.  There is not a federal or national website that provides W-2’s.

You might need to phone, drop in, email and/or snail mail an old employer to make sure they know where to send your W-2.

Or...

You can get a wage and income transcript from the IRS:  It will not show the actual W-2, 1099’s, etc, but will show the income information the IRS received.  It will not, however, show your state information. It will only show the federal information.

or

Pay Social Security $62 per tax year for your W-2’s.:

Thank you. So there’s no way to see on turbo tax or on my return that I have printed what w2s or other forms I had that year?

TurboTax does not have copies of your W-2's.    Even if you snapped a photo or imported the W-2, TT does not have an image of the W-2.   TT only has the data that you entered, which will be on the worksheets that are part of the pdf of the return.

You said you completed a 2022 return that was rejected----so you can find the return in your account.   But if you need to make changes to it, you can only make those changes by using the downloaded software.   And the return can only be filed by mail.
