Last year I was able to e-file with a 1040-SR no problem. This year with no changes in any filing situation I get an error saying that because there are zero amounts in lines such-and-such, I can't e-file - but it was zero amounts in those same lines last year, when I could e-file no problem. All the checks said everything was fine at both Federal and State level. So I have to mail the returns in - why has this changed for this year?

You may want to wait a bit and try again. It's still relatively early in the filing season, and TurboTax has quite a few "bugs" that are being worked out.
It may be that you'll be able to successfully e-file a little later.
Wait?? Too late, I've already mailed the returns in. But thanks. I can't wait to see if I "may be" able to e-file some undetermined time "later"...
Okay. The mailed returns may take lots longer to process (at least the federal one). As I understand it, the IRS is still behind on paper returns from 2019 and 2020.
Best of luck!
