CAN I use the same IP PIN for my college age daughter if she files as well?

My college age daughter was the victim of identity theft.  She got a letter from IRS to get an IP Pin which she did.

This is the first year that she is required to file ---due to taxable room and board scholarship ($19,000).  She will file and say she can be counted as a dependent on mine.

I have her on my tax return as a dependent because I can get the AO education credit at $2500 and I do support her.

My question---since she is on my tax return, do I need to use the IP PIN she received as well?   If so, will me using the IP  PIN  appearing on mine and hers cause a problem?

Yes, if you claim her as a dependent, you need to use her IP pin.  It should not cause a conflict. IP PINs for dependents can be added under the tab for "other tax situations."

She needs to make sure that she check yes for "I can be claimed as a dependent by another taxpayer" to prevent conflicts.
