I needed to file an extension, and so without thinking used IRS Direct Pay to do it.
I would like to still file my taxes in TurboTax once I'm prepared to. Is there is a way to link the extension and payment made via Direct Pay to what I have done in TurboTax to enable a smooth filing?
Edit: Upon further research, I found the following result. Is this still the recommendation? Doesn't seem to fit perfectly, but naively the idea of using "Additional payments" from the Estimated taxes section to capture the extension payment seems reasonable - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/taxes/discussion/is-there-a-place-to-list-or-import-an-alr[product...

There's no way to link the Direct pay to Turbotax
you do not need to file an extension form with your e-filed return. actually, there is no extension form. under IRS rules making the extension payment through Direct Pay automatically extends your return. hopefully, you printed the confirmation.
in Turbotax, there is a payment worksheet where you can manually enter your extension payment.
Ok so it cannot be linked, but it can be represented in the estimated payments section? That's what I was thinking before.
Ah so there is no distinction between a late e-filing, and an e-filing with an extension in TurboTax. Is this true for state taxes as well? That makes sense. I will just file as normal once I have all my details.
