anytime I try to get started to file 2023 taxes it says buy a $80 package and the prices go higher with each product

Unfortunately, you can not start a 2023 tax return in TurboTax for free.

You will have to download a Desktop product and pay up front.
You can make the purchase at TurboTax Desktop Software
