Can I file my 2016 return before the end of 2016?

The end of 2016 was 11 months ago. Do you mean 2017? You cannot file your tax return for 2017 until sometime in January 2018. The IRS has not yet announced a starting date for filing 2017 tax returns, but it will not be until January. You cannot file before the end of the year.

If you still have not filed your tax return for 2016, you can file it now. You will have to print it and file it by mail. You cannot e-file for 2016 any longer.
