If you are filing a joint return, it is important that throughout your return you assign things that pertain to you--like your income--under your own name, and things that pertain to your spouse under his name. That also includes using your own driver's license number under your name, and your spouse's driver's license for his name. It does not matter whose name is listed first on the tax return. Just stay consistent.
