I am filing form 1310 for a deceased mother. I got a somewhat cryptic error message in Turbotax when I checked the return that I can't file my return electronically. I know I have to file form 1310 by paper and send in a copy of the document that shows I am the executor, but can I still file the return itself (ie, the 1040) electronically, or do I have to file everything by paper?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You may be able to file the return electronically but they can't process the return without the 1310. So filing it electronically will not hurry the process at all since they would need to wait for the 1310 to arrive in order to decide whether it is a legitimate refund claim.
Thanks, that’s very helpful.
