You can only do one return with the online TurboTax software. You have to open a separate account for her.  With only W-2 income, she probably qualifies for the free edition.

If you need to do multiple returns and don't qualify for the free edition, consider using the down load version of TurboTax. There is no limit to how many returns you can prepare. But there is a 5 return limit for e-filing.

If you are using TurboTax Online, each tax return requires a separate account with a separate username and password, but you can use the same email address for all of them. Never start another return by going back and overwriting everything in the return you just filed. This will replace your info, which means you won't be able to retrieve your return later.

If you are using the CD/Windows version of TurboTax simply "Start a new return".

You should gather all of her tax documents (W-2's, any 1099-INT's received, etc.) and prepare her tax return.

Remember if she is being claimed as a dependent on your tax return she has to answer that question in TurboTax, that she is being claimed as a dependent on another person's tax return.

If her income is less than the standard deduction, she won't need to file a tax return. For 2022 the Standard Deductions are as follows:

For single taxpayers and married individuals filing separately, the standard deduction is $12,950 in 2021.

For married couples filing jointly is $25,900, and

For heads of households, the standard deduction is $19,400

If she had federal income tax withheld for the tax year, she will have to file to get this back.
