Can i claim my illegal parent this year?

To claim a parent as a dependent, they must be a US resident (meet the substantial presence test), and you provided more than half their support, and they had less than $4050 of taxable income, and they have an SSN or ITIN.

If they were not in the country long enough to be considered a "resident" by the substantial presence test, they can't be a dependent.

If you run the interview and it won't allow you to claim them, check your answers with reference to my comment above.

Under the personal info tab select "Dependents" and you can add another dependent there.
