Can I claim my 68 yr old special needs brother as a dependent if I provide over 50% support even if he didn't live with me?

He lives in home inherited from our deceased parents.

Can I claim my 68 yr old special needs brother as a dependent if I provide over 50% support even if he didn't live with me?

Yes, you can claim your brother as a dependent if you provide more than 50% of his support and he earned less than $4,150.  Social Security generally does not count.

If he does not live with you, the benefit will be the $500 other Dependent Credit and the ability to claim any medical expenses you pay if you are itemizing your expenses.
