Can I claim inheritance tax on behalf of a deceased's estate?

If you are asking if you can claim a deduction on your personal tax return for the inheritance tax paid by a deceased's estate the answer is no,  Neither can the estate claim a deduction for the federal tax paid or the state inheritance tax paid.  The itemized deduction for taxes is very specific in the statute and includes only real property taxes, state and local personal property taxes, state and local income taxes, and sales tax.
