I have the exact same problem!! Turbo tax should have picked up on the very large credit that has been carrying over. So much for their 100% accuracy guarantee!! a 120k credit should have spurned a huge red flag somewhere along the way. I think this credit has been carrying over for years and they never caught it! Of course, they are taking no responsibility - getting help from them is pointless. I'm in the hole over 12k and they could not care less that it was their software forwarding this credit for years. I got used to it and just though my situation had changes so dramatically (which it did) that I was getting better returns. Should have known it was too good to be true - now I'm in deep.
same here!! obvious glitch. Turbo tax should have picked up on such a large discrepancy. But how to fix moving forward? I think I just have to stop with turbo tax and go to an accountant to straighten out the huge mess that turbotax has put me in.
Yes!! That is exactly what happened to me!! now its catching up with me!
No... I have the exact same issue and the IRS just now caught it. now I have a huge tax liability I am unprepared to deal with. it is going to cost me a fortune and turbotax is taking no responsibility. I'm thinking about a tax attorney. they shouldn't be able to guarantee 100% accuracy and get away with affecting their customers so negatively!! they should have caught these huge carry over errors! I just filed a complaint with the IRS today against them as a preparer. I encourage everyone to do this!
Me too! exact same scenario. There must be many others! Turbo tax needs to step up and help us all out! this was THEIR GLITCH!!
YES!! I agree!! they should make this known and offer assistance. There will be others as well. spread the word!
I have contacted them twice about this exact issue with a carryover credit that was made erroneously going back many years. I was told it goes back to far and they cannot help me. Tax lawyer is my next step. the money I owe is going to be HUGE and I'm not going down alone TT!
Yup, huge glitch. I filed a complaint with TurboTax for their "100% accuracy" guarantee and of course it came back as "not their fault" that I didn't realize THEIR #$@ing mistake. For YEARS until the IRS flagged it. Of course I'm worried about 2020 as well because that same Turbo Tax ERROR carried through. WHY was this not flagged on THEIR end? I asked a CPA about it and he said it's VERY RARE for there to be such a large carryover. (yes, I'm shouting, I'm really pissed)
melroy68 ... you are not alone!! I am in the exact same boat! 10 year user and the error just now caught. if the IRS wasn't auditing me, I still wouldn't know about it! its bull**bleep**!! they need to own this!!!
omg ... you and I are speaking exactly the same language! Im at my wits end cause TT won't do a **bleep** thing to help! But you can file a Form 14157 that the IRS sent me when I told them how badly TT had screwed me up!! I'm mailing it tomorrow. IRS agent told me she has had others with same exact issue. This is big! I will be speaking with an attorney. But please fill out the IRS form to complain about them. if enough people do it, they will be forced to own their software error.
please email me .... [email address removed]
Yes! SAME! I am positive they used income in the carryover line many years ago and it wasn't flagged at that time (THEIR ERROR) . It's why I used to use TT--because I trusted they knew better than I did. My claim with TT for getting back penalties and interest was denied. I just paid $14k to the IRS due to THEIR error. They won't fess up.
please email me so we can all get together on this suit. I'm in! [email address removed]. please reach out independent. they will shut this thread down soon
they removed your email address so I can't see it but I will file the form with the IRS as you suggested
Mary... I am interested in having one of these "sanitized" analysis done. What are the next steps.
