Form 1099-G is used to report certain government payments, not compensation. Compensation is on Form 1099-NEC.
1099-G
Federal, state, or local governments file this form if they made payments of:
- Unemployment compensation.
- State or local income tax refunds, credits, or offsets.
- Reemployment trade adjustment assistance (RTAA) payments.
- Taxable grants.
- Agricultural payments.
You can do a search for 1099-G from inside your return, and in the results you should see a "Jump to" link for it. If you don't see the "Jump to" link, you can always do the following:
- Open your return
- Go to the Federal Taxes tab
- Select Wages & Income
- Hit See List of All Income
- Look for the 1099-G form under the Unemployment and Paid Family Leave section
