Can anyone explain why the original fee is $69 and now it says $108 and I didn't make any changes?

Did you do a state return?  State is an extra charge.

Or if you choose to pay the fee out of your refund there is an Extra $40 Refund Processing Service charge (45 in California).  Which you could have avoided by paying upfront with a credit card.
