There have been three very serious California wildfires in the last few weeks affecting several counties (Orange, Riverside, etc.)  Has the IRS or California FTB granted additional extensions for tax returns otherwise due 10/15/24?

    Hello,

The wildfires in California have been devastating.

At this point, there has not been a major disaster declaration for these wildfires by the President and no extension for filing for the IRS or FTB.

You can check the status of disaster declarations at https://www.fema.gov/disaster. If an area has been declared a federal disaster, the IRS and FTB may postpone the filing deadline but at this point the wildfires in Orange and Riverside county have not resulted in extensions.
