California VLF fee

I bought a car on Dec 30th 2017.  Looks like the DMV encashed the check for the registration of the car on Jan 11th, 2018.  I will need to renew the registration before 12/30/2018.

Does this mean that I get to claim 2 VLF deductions for the year 2018 and NONE for the year 2017?

Thanks

THE DOLLAR AMOUNT THAT IS DEDUCTABLE.

You would need to check your Vehicle Registration Billing Notice to know how much Vehicle License Fee you are being charged based on the value of your vehicle.  The Vehicle License Fee is the only amount that is deductible on your tax return.  The amount is not uniform to everyone, it is based on your vehicle's value.

Thanks Annette.    But, I guess I asked the wrong question.  What I really wanted to know is:  What is

the non-deductible part of my registration fee.

Unfortunately, we would not have access to this information as this is public forum.

I have attached a link that breaks down the deductible portion for you.  Anything else listed on your registration fees aside from the classifications listed on the link below would not be tax deductible fees.
