Using 2024 TurboTax Premier Desktop for Windows, on Line 9 of the Georgia Worksheet for Other State(s) Tax Credit, the software is supposed to calculate the "Tax at Georgia rates" on the amount on Line 8 of the worksheet. This is very simple since Georgia has a flat tax rate of 5.39% for 2024, so the software should just multiply Line 8 by 0.0539 to get the amount for Line 9.
Unfortunately, Georgia didn't update the instruction for Line 9. It still says, "Tax at Georgia rates (use tax table or rate schedule in this booklet)," even though there are no tax tables or rate schedules in the booklet for 2024. The software is looking up the tax in the 2023 tax table, which no longer applies.
The solution is to calculate Line 9 yourself and use Override to put the correct amount. You're likely to get shortchanged on the credit if you keep the calculation done by the software.
