Bug in federal estimated tax opti

In the 1040 worksheet, I had all my 2023 federal overpayment applied to 2024 estimated taxes. The number did not propagate to the estimated taxes worksheet. Is that a bug? Should I manually override the entry in the later worksheet

Yes, you should be able to apply your 2023 overpayment to 2024 Estimated Taxes.

TurboTax Online and TurboTax Desktop

Note: If your TurboTax navigation looks different from what’s described here, learn more.

  1. Sign in to your TurboTax account.
  2. Open or continue to your return, if you don't already have it open.
  3. Select Search, enter apply federal refund to next year and select Jump to apply federal refund to next year.
    • Or go to Other Tax Situations, and select Start next to Apply Refund to Next Year under Additional Tax Payments.
  4. Follow the instructions on the Apply Refund to 2024 Taxes screen.

Tip: If you pay quarterly estimated taxes, apply a portion of your refund to next year's first-quarter estimated tax payment, which is due April 18. This can help prevent underpayment penalties on next year's return.
