my box d has 2 rows.

first there is a 4 digit number and a dash and then 8 characters(letters and numbers)

The next row is a 10 digit number  a dash and then 6 characters (first is a number then 5 letters)

How do i enter this? and then when does it offer the import option.  i wanted to just import this information, but it is not easy and the youtube vid didnt work for me.

I have never seen 2 rows for Box d.  That is unusual.  You can enter the first row to import and see what happens.  Worst will be an error message that it's not the right code to import.  Then use the second row.

You have to verify the information once it is imported.

Ok so i called in and the woman said try to enter it all as one string.

I did that and went to next page but it didnt import anything.

Does it normally do the import right after you enter the control number??

Also, is the control number usually 4 digits and a dash and then 8 letters/digits?

it differs by employer, I think.  The W2s I can look at that were imported have 10 digits a space and 3 letters.  The import should occur immediately after you enter the code.  That would be an excessively long string to enter both lines.  It may be easiest to enter the information yourself at this point, unfortunately.

Some employers provide an "Import Code" that may be in your name/address box or above the W2 information.
