Because I live on SS income only and less than $1000. 00 interest per year from an Edward Jones account does it make sense that I do not get any refund?

Yes, without earned income or taxes withheld you would not be eligible for a refund. In order to get a refund without earned income from work, you would have had to pay taxes in that were greater than the amount you owed.
