So my bank account closed before it went into my account, so if they mail me a refund how long will it take to receive a check in the mail?

It normally takes 2 weeks to receive your refund in the mail after your direct deposit is rejected by the bank.

Hi there!

I'm a different user and I have the same issue. My refund was deposited into wells fargo on 26 Feb 2020. My account was closed on 19 Feb 2020. I called the IRS before the deposit was made and they told me to wait until the refund has been rejected by the wells fargo.  After about a week I realized that the IRS have not updated their system so I called wells fargo to check if there's anything I needed to do in order to have the funds released, they said their system rejects it within 2 business days.  The IRS told me to wait about a month on 15 March 2020 and today is 25 March 2020 but nobody actually knows what happened to my refund.

Generally, when a direct deposit is rejected the IRS they will issue a check that is mailed to the address on the tax return.  Unfortunately, these is nothing that be done to speedup this process.
