Hi I received a notice that I have a balance due with the IRS. The notice name is LT38, which is to inform you something different, but the balance due is mentioned there. After doing some research and calling them on the phone, I came to the conclusion that the issue is from the taxes I filed in 2022 (2021 tax period). It seems the IRS is not considering one of my kids for the tax credit line 8812. At that point, the balance was $2000. Now, with the interest, it is like $2270. When I called them, they told me I have 3 options, one is to pay the balance, amend the tax from 2021, or dispute the balance. I really think this is a mistake on their side because I've been claiming both of my kids forever, so I would like to dispute this balance. Since I use Turbotax to file my taxes, I wonder if Turbotax can help me with this too? Does anyone with experience in disputing a balance with IRS con help me with this?
