Under 'Dispositions' I list date and the Land Sales price -- TT says "Date sold - a No No. Remove date & then TT says "Date sold must be entered." What gives????

The date sold is required. If you are using:

the desktop version, please switch to Forms Mode while on that screen and see if there is a red exclamation mark and what it wants. You can do a data source if needed.
the online version,

Log out of your return and try one or more of the following:
- Don't use Internet Explorer.
- Clear cache and cookies,
- Sign in using a different browser.
- Sign in using a different device.
Log back into your return.
