I am a physician on J1- Alien physician visa program, I am from India,  I would like to know whether I am eligible to get the standard deduction under the Indian treaty Article 21(2)

as I see it, Article 22 would apply to you,m, not article 21

Yeah I understand that but my j1 Visa says alien physician/ research scholar , am I eligible to get the standard deduction ?

Yes thank you , I just want to make sure that anyone else on J1 from India apart from student and business apprentice on J1 can claim standard deduction ?
