Arizona Extension

I filed the Federal extension and it is pending.  How do I file an extension for Arizona?

I thought both can be done in Turbotax but can't find anywhere to e-file the extension for state.

Thanks

In Arizona, you can file an extension in one of three ways:

  1. File a federal extension
  2. Make an extension payment at AZTaxes.gov
  3. Print and mail Form 204

Any of these options will extend your filing deadline six months to October 16, 2023. If you owe, you will still need to submit payment by April 18, 2023 to avoid penalties and interest.

Taxpayers who filed an extension with the Internal Revenue Service do not have to do so with the state, but they must check the Filing Under Extension box 82F on the Arizona tax returns when they file.

Thank you.  You said "Taxpayers who filed an extension with the Internal Revenue Service do not have to do so with the state, but they must check the Filing Under Extension box 82F on the Arizona tax returns when they file."

As I understand it, this requirement is only when filing that actual return and not the extension request.  Am I correct?

Thanks,

Yes, that is correct. "Check the Filing Under Extension box 82F" is on your Arizona tax return.

If you expect a refund from Arizona, you can just file your federal extension and check the box when you complete your AZ state return.

If you think you may owe Arizona tax, use Form 204 to make a payment on or before April 18, 2023.

Thank You.

Yes, but for the last many years there has been no way to check the box 82F via TurboTax. So I have had to print out AZ, check the box, and file manually.    For 2023 has Turbotax added a way to check box 82?  I extended Fed via TT as always.
