Are the federal and state taxes going to stay pending? How much longer?

Please be aware that the IRS currently won't start processing returns until February 12, 2021. You can check your states website when they will start processing returns.

Although some test files may be pulled earlier....don't expect any action until the week after 12 Feb.

The IRS expects to start on 12 Feb, but cannot work thru millions of forms waiting all in one day...might take a week to go thru the backlog.

Your state forms won't be sent on until the IRS accepts the federal tax forms filing....the Fed computers are the first line of defense against fraud/theft/errors in tax files, and the state forms are only sent on if the Fed forms pass the initial checks first.
