Ammended 2021 return

I need to ammend my 2021 tax return with a 1099-b, 1099-int. but when I start the return it now shows I owe 2800 dollars, which I believe is the stimulus check we received. So how do I go about amending it and resubmitting?

You need to find the question regarding receiving the stimulus money and indicate that you received it. You will see that question after you go through the deductions and credits section in the program, when it is doing the wrap up before you are ready to file.

Appreciate the answer. When I complete the return, the return itself shows the refund from  ast year but in the program on top in red it still shows $2800 owed.  Does that even matter if at the end, the Federal refund page is the same as last year.

Yes. If you tax return does not show the stimulus money as owed and the correct results are on your 1040-X form you can disregard that message when you complete the return.  Be sure your original refund is in place on the 1040-X (Line 18) and the additional income is included (you should see it on Line 1b and an increase in Line 1c).
