I just recently did an amendment and added my son's social and now am waiting for IRS to process how long does that usually take does it usually take the whole 16 weeksAnd when am I able to do my next amendment I have another one I need to do or do I have to wait for this one to process all the way

Even during “normal” times it takes about four months for the IRS to process an amended return. During the pandemic and due to the severe backlog at the IRS it is taking much longer—six months or more for many amended returns. Do not expect quick results from amending. When the IRS issues a refund for an amended return it will be by check. They do not make direct deposits for refunds for amended returns. You can watch for information here:

The first answer is, that I don't know how long the IRS will take to process your amended return. They seem to work at their own pace!

If you have amendments to file for multiple years that do not have carryover information on them you can file with only a day or two between them.

I have a few more amendments that need to be done the only thing I'm doing is adding my son as a dependent everything else is the same I don't know where on the website to go to do these amendments it shows the one that I've already sent and information about that but I don't see anywhere where I can add another amendment or start the next ones that have
