Amending TT Absolute Zero filed Return to include 1099-R distribution. Do we need to switch to Deluxe TT, or is it still on the Absolute Zero TT EZ?

Free 1040EZ should be fine as long as you do not have an early withdrawal (under age 59 1/2) penalty, then the full 1040 form is required to report that. The 1040EZ/A does not support the 5329 and 1040 line 59 to report the penalty.
