Received a very late 1099 and had to file an amended return owing more in tax. When I printed my federal return, I got two different returns. One had the correct amount of additional tax owed under the 1040-X, and the other was a 1040-SR return for seniors showing a return! Not sure what to do. I turned 65 in November 2020.

You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You would need to submit the Form 1040-X and attach the Form 1099. The Form 1040-SR should be the new return after the correction which does not need to be submitted.
Thank you for the reply. I'm not quite sure what you are saying. I didn't see where I was asked to send in the 1099. Are you saying that was required? Also, the 1040-X said I owed like $500 or so, but the 1040-SR said I get a $150 refund. There was no explanation anywhere I could see why I got them both. Are you saying I don't owe the $500? Very confused, LOL!

According to the IRS, both the electronic Form 1040 and 1040-SR Amended Returns (with attached Form 1040-X) will require submission of ALL necessary forms and schedules as if it were the Original 1040 or 1040-SR submission, even though some forms may have no adjustments.
The TurboTax program should have an instruction sheet to guide you what to send or print.
