So i messed up on my original return because of some poor communication over claiming dependents and long story short, I had to file an amend to include dependents. However, I did this very soon after my first return was accepted. I never received the original refund, to this day, and I have no updates about my amended form.
I use the IRS tracker to look for the return- no luck. I search for the original return and it shows up saying it is completed and deposited but I still never received anything.
What's going on? What do I do?
Thanks everyone.

You should have waited for the original return to be fully processed before sending an amended return. That can cause confusion and delays.

Sometimes people get confused by the “summary” given by TurboTax and use the wrong amount for the federal refund. Make sure you are only using the federal refund amount, and not an amount that combined your federal and state refunds.
Your federal refund amount is on line 35a of your Form 1040
Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.

When you filed your original return, did you choose to pay your TurboTax fees from your federal refund?
How can I see my TurboTax fees?

What is Refund Processing Service?
Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, LLC (SBTPG) is the bank that handles the Refund Processing Service when you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your refund. This option also has an additional charge from the bank that processes the transaction.
You can contact them SBTPG, toll-free, at 1-877-908-7228 or go to their secure website www.sbtpg.com

Thanks for your comment!
I realize now that I should have waited until the original return processed but its too late now.
I entered the correct amount but the IRS website says nothing matches records.
So I will just have to wait basically? I never got the original return is what is weird to me. Wouldn't that mean they received the amended return if that original return never went through? But also why would it say on their website that its already been deposited?
I think I did choose to pay from the refund. But the federal refund never arrived, I was never charged.
It is not possible to get an amended return accepted by e-filing it if your original return was not e-filed successfully. It seems you need to check and see if your original return was accepted. If it was rejected, then you have no need to amend----you can make corrections to a rejected return and re-file it.
Did you e-file? Did you click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”
When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first one will say that your return was submitted. The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected. If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.
Check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

I e-filed my original return and yes it was accepted, however about a week later I mailed out my amended return. To this day, I still never received the original refund and have no updates about my amended return - which I mailed around 3/14/24.
When I use IRS "where's my refund" for the original return, that was e-filed, it shows up and says it was completed- but I never got anything, and I double and triple checked my bank acct.
When I use IRS "where's my refund" for the amended return, that was mailed, it does not show up. No records found.
