If I am selling a product exclusively through Amazon, am I responsible for paying any state sales tax?

Hello @clairec1 and thanks for chatting in today!

I did some research on Amazon and it appears the answer is, "it depends". Amazon does collect state sales tax for sellers selling to certain states. However, they do not guarantee that they handle all of your state sales tax obligations.

Here is a list of states that Amazon handles sales tax collection for, along with links to more information. It would be up to you as the seller to determine whether you have any additional filing obligation for any of the states you sell into. As an aside, I am aware there are third-party services that will assist with your sales tax compliance for this situation - you may want to explore those as a solution.

    Hope this information was helpful!
