Admended return mistake

Hello!

I had filed my taxes with H&R Block for the year 2023. I realized I had forgot to submit a W-2 so they advise I file an admended return, I thought I could do it myself to save money but they returned it with some ‘corrections’ however their corrections were so wrong. I attempted to contact the IRS with no luck of getting answers or help. So I filled another admended return online and they had made sure everything was correct. I received a letter saying nothing was corrected or adjusted though therefore they kept the balance I owed from the admended return they corrected and not the amount I actually owed on the second one I filed. I’m don’t know what to do now.. I called the IRS and they advised I file another admended return but I’m afraid to do so.

If you're talking about a significant amount of money between the amount you should owe and the amount that has been paid, then it could be worth the cost to find a local tax expert in your area to help you work through the situation.  They would be able to see your original return, the correspondence you have received, and all the amended returns that have been filed.

do you have a paper copy of the original return you filed? That's most important.

Otherwise, what you filed can be retrieved from IRS in your online account.
