A useless and frustrating forum

I have never seen a forum as bad as this one, and I have been using it for four years. Whenever I ask a question, it is lost to me forever. How could TTax possibly build a forum without a link to one's own question of forty-eight hours ago? Bad, bad, bad.

(I've seen other questions like this, and the wise moderators bawl the questioner out for repeatedly asking the same question! No wonder he keeps asking it anew, since there's no way for him to find the original.)

A useless and frustrating forum

Okay, I apologize! I've actually received some very useful information here. But I continue to regard this forum as VERY frustrating. It's not at all intuitive, and its purpose seems less to provide information than to coax people to hire an expert!

That said, thanks to all who've answered here and in my original question, which I can "find" simply by clicking on one of the responses that find their way to my inbox. Who would have guessed that that's how it works?

I suppose the solution is to ask the question in the early morning, then keep the window open for the rest of the day, hoping it won't take long to elicit and answer.

I also notice that this is the first forum I've used that provides no way to edit one's question!

@slowreader

To see a list of your postings, go to the upper right corner of any page and click on the Profile icon (looks like a trio of heads).   Then in the dropdown choose My Profile.   On your profile page scroll down and you should see 3 tabs:   Posts, Replies, and Drafts.

Shortcut:

You can also click on your name (or others) that appears in any thread, and it will take you to your Profile to see your forum activity.

As for editing, you are quite correct that editing is not obvious, but here's how to do it..   To edit any question or comment,  look for a tiny 3-dots blue icon to the right (and slightly up) of your question or comment.  Click that and in the dropdown menu choose Edit.

Also in the top right corner is a bell icon.  Click the bell to see your notifications.  It should show you threads you have participated in and when there's a response or mention.

Also, you should be (or can be) getting emails anytime someone responds to your thread (or one you are following), or whenever you get an "@ mention."    You can control the email notification settings by again going to the top right corner, and choosing the Profile icon (3 heads), and in the dropdown choose "My Settings."

I can't edit my profile because the Sign In box appears every time and covers the button.

Are you clicking on the icon that has 3 heads?   When I hover over it, it displays my username.  When I click it, I get a dropdown menu--I don't get a Sign In box at all.  I'm already signed in to the community.

. It's hard to make a suggestion since I can't duplicate it.  But I guess something to try would be zooming out to make everything smaller.   If using Windows, sign into the forum, then once logged in, use the Windows Ctrl button plus "-" (minus) button to make screen items smaller.  While holding down Ctrl keep hitting the minus button to make it progressively smaller (Ctrl + 0 returns to normal size. )   That's quick and easy to try.    Something else to try perhaps changing screen resolution.

If using a Mac, there's likely a way to zoom out on the screen, but I don't know the steps.

If the sign in box pops up then sign in ... once you do that you will see your ICON next to the 3 heads.

The thing is, I'm already signed in, or I wouldn't be replying to you.

Yes I'm signed in too.  But if I want to see my profile or posts or messages I have to sign in further.  Don't know why.  It changed a while back.  Seems to be 2 levels of sign in.
