A friend prepared our taxes. They had already used their 5 free e files. How can we electronic file our taxes that are already prepared?

You can't. If the friend has used up the five federal efiles from their software, then any additional returns the friend prepared have to be printed, signed and mailed. That five e-flle limit is an IRS limit--no way around it.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return.

Not unless you completely re-do it yourself using your own software or online software. It is impossible to e-file it from your friend's software program. Sorry.

Your friend cannot buy, beg, borrow or steal a way to e-file more than five federal returns. The IRS strictly enforces that limit. The software will not do it. In order to use the return your friend prepared, it has to be printed and mailed.
