What is your question on Form 8615?

The 8615 on my son's return is asking me to check one of the two boxes, that parent's will claim income on their return or that both parent's were deceased etc, neither one applies.  Upon review of his return this comes up as an error because neither box has been checked, as neither one applies.  Thank you

When you prepared your son's tax return did you indicate that your son was being claimed on your tax return? Under My Info Section 3. A few other things we need to know Someone else can claim me as a dependent on their tax return. you need to check the radio button marked yes.

By doing this when you are completing Form 8615 you will only be asked if the parents were deceased.  Answer this question and you can continue to complete Form 8615
