Not my question!
TurboTax has made me pay taxes for 2017 distribution 4 years in a row. 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020. That is tax on $16,775 4 times. (should have been 3)
How do I get a refund?
While working on my 2021 return TT Premier told me to wait for the new form to come out in April so I can pay the Tax a 5th time.
I need help, I've paid for your product 18 years and you've never helped me before. Maybe today will be different.
Would you mind explaining what is causing you to include the same distribution each year? If you had a qualifying distribution for 2017, then it should have been reported one third each year (2017, 2018, 2019).
'Generally, a qualified 2017 disaster distribution is included in your income in equal amounts over 3 years. However, if you elected, you could have included the entire distribution in your income in the year of the distribution."
Please provide more details so I can better help with an answer for you.
I can send you copies of 4 years of 1040 (2017-18-19-20) and the same 4 years of form 8915B where TurboTax had me pay the tax 4 times. Should have been $16,775 x 3 = $50,325, but TurboTax had me pay taxes on $67,100.
The fourth year (2020) should be amended to remove the amount since it was fully taxed in year three (2019). Here are the instructions for amending your 2020 return. The Form 8915 should be deleted in 2020. Please be sure to read the instructions fully before you being the amendment.
Thanks, going to give a try now!
OK, I am in TurboTax 2020, Opened my file from 2020, duplicated it and changed the name.
Now what?
If there is a way to delete the 8519 I can't find it
I found it, now I have to mail it in and see is they send me our $2393 refund, thanks!
