My ex and I separated in Aug of 2018, and now share joint custody of our daughter. We agreed he will claim her for 2018 since he had more income for that year, do I need to file 8332 form?

Yes, if you are the custodial parent, meaning that your daughter lived with you for the most nights of the year, you'll need to sign Form 8332 and give it to your ex so that he can claim the dependent on his return. He would attach the Form 8332 to his return if he's filing by mail, and if he's e-filing he'll attach it to Form 8453.

You don't have to send it in at all.

Thank you so much for your response! That really helps. Do I have to wait for his taxes to be received to file mine?

You're welcome! No, go ahead and file when you are ready. You don't have to wait.
