I have a 6 digit IRS pin to put into a 5 digit box in Tax. A communiity post gave the sequence of handling it but I cannot find the various points mentioned which said: ' Go to Federal>Other tax situations>Other Return>Identity Protection> and enter the 6 digit PIN. There is no tab/menu item that says 'Federal' that I can see. Turbo tax should ask if you have a 6 digit or 5 digit pin.

If you have the Desktop Home & Business program it goes under Personal. It breaks out Federal into Business & Personal. So when you see Federal you go to Personal.
The 6-digit Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN) is different from the 5-digit e-filing PIN, and is entered in a different place. Here's how to enter your IP PIN in TurboTax if you are e-filing.
There are 3 types of pins, all of different lengths. Follow these steps to enter your 6 digit identity protection pin:
If you e-filed last year, you have a 5 digit pin for e-filing. It can be entered in the last step before filing or you can use last year's AGI to file.
Hi VolvoGirl,
I do not have the left menu being referred to in your screen-shot. I am in the desktop version. Any other suggestions?
Thanks you!
Desktop, yes. Switch over to FORMS mode. Locate the Info Wks on the left side. Scroll down to Part VII. Find the Identity protection pin and enter.
I answered above for the Home & Business Desktop program. Someone else posted the Online screen shot.
Hi Amy C,
I went in and found the spot to enter it. Then went through all the screens again to finally file. Hoping for the best. Thank you!
