3rd Stimulus Question Tax Year 2021

I can't remember if I received a third stimulus check in March-May but I need to know. I tried going to the IRS website but I keep getting errors in making an account so no luck there. I was employed at the time so I imagine I would have but I can't be certain nor do I remember how much it would have been. The page is saying $1400 but I don't remember any stimulus checks being $1400

That isn't anything we would know.

However you received the first stimulus payment, second stimulus payment or 2020 tax refund is how the payment would have been made.

If those were direct deposit, check that bank account.

You could always report that you DID receive the payment. If you didn't receive it, the IRS will adjust for that and add it to your refund (or lower your tax due)

I've tried looking at my bank statements but they only go back 90 days which is rather frustrating so I can't be sure.

Did you receive an IRS Letter 6475 reporting that you were sent the third stimulus payment?

At your IRS online account, you can find whether a payment was issued to you that you did not receive.  You can also find this information on your tax transcript.

You may want to report that you did receive the payment that the software computes.  The IRS may correct your refund if the IRS has no record of you being sent the third stimulus payment.

The qualifications for the third stimulus payment are:

  • you were a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident alien in 2021,
  • you were not a dependent of another taxpayer’s 2020 tax return, and
  • you have a Social Security number.

There are income limitations are if your adjusted gross income (AGI) is more than:

  • $150,000 if married and filing a joint return or filing as a qualifying widow or widower
  • $112,500 if filing as head of household or
  • $75,000 if filing as a single or as married filing separately.

If you did not receive the third stimulus payment, you may receive that amount through a Recovery Rebate Credit found on line 30 of the 2021 Federal 1040 tax return.

I needed the same information, I went to my bank statement and it was listed under EIP3

My wife and I both received a third stimulus check. Each for $1400. We also received and IRS statement on 2/7/22  stating we received this payment. I believe your safe in accepting the fact you received it.

If you checked your bank account in the March - May 2021 timeframe and there is not a EIP3 payment from the IRS then go to this IRS website for how to start a trace on the payment - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/questions-and-answers-about-the-third-economic-impact-payment-topic-j-payment-issued-but-lost-stolen-destroyed-or-not-received
